A little more than two years ago, an online poker room called Unibet Poker finished its cooperation with the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) and launched its own poker client manufactured by Relax Gaming.
In the near future, Unibet is going to be transformed into an online poker network by merging with the Finnish online poker room called Pokerihuone. Coincidentally, it is operating on MPN. This process is supposed to occur on May 02 when software released by Unibet Poker will be updated. Upon completion of this process, users of Pokerihuone will be provided with the opportunities, which are virtually identical to those that are available for gamblers at Unibet Poker. Customers of both gambling houses will participate in all games, tournaments, and ring games on equal conditions. VIP offers and various promotions will also be available for them.
This cooperation was catalyzed by the acquisition of iGame by Unibet last summer. Pokerihuone was its only online poker room. According to experts, the main aim of the iGame acquisition was to gain control over other gambling verticals of its business: online casinos, bingo, and online betting. However, this cooperation provided Unibet Poker with a unique opportunity to develop and grow into something more than just an online poker room.
Nevertheless, experts do not overestimate the role of this merger for Unibet Poker, which is currently the 12th largest poker network, whereas Pokerihuone is far from being even the largest client of MPN. However, new users are always supposed to be a positive trend for online poker rooms.
We can also assume that the successful merger may contribute to the role of Stan James Poker as the next possible candidate for becoming a part of the newly formed network. Its associated company was acquired by Unibet month before the acquisition of iGame. At the moment, there are no official statements in this regard.
