History of Marina Bay Sands

Moshe Safdie Architects developed the design of Marina Bay Sands. The key elements are three hotel buildings and Sky Park located on them. Aedas Singapore, Arup, and Parsons Brinckerhoff participated in the construction. The main contractor is SsangYong Engineering and Construction.

The complex opening was planned for 2009, but the prices of construction materials increased significantly, and due to labor shortages, the construction project was extended over an extended period. Moreover, the global financial crisis forced Las Vegas Sands to freeze all its projects temporarily.

The casino was opened on April 27, 2010. In June, the first visitors saw Sky Park. In November, the theater gave its first performance. The grand opening of Marina Bay Sands was only on February 17, 2011. On the same day, all restaurants opened their doors to customers.
