The second-largest online poker room 888poker signed a two-year contract with the Swedish Poker Federation (Svenska Pokerförbunde). According to this agreement, it will host the online version of the Swedish Poker Championship, known as Poker-SM.

The Swedish Poker Federation was founded in 2004 as a non-profit association, whose revenues, including membership fees and corporate sponsorship, were intended to promote poker in Sweden. Every year the Federation holds a poker festival in both land-based and online versions. Only those who permanently reside on the territory of Sweden may participate in them. The online tournament and online satellites for the land-based event have been held by Rational Group , the former owner of the online poker room PokerStars, and Full Tilt over a few years.

This year, the online Poker-SM on the website 888poker includes 12 events that will take place from May 24 to May 30. The two-day $160 (May 29-30) Main Event seems to be the most important tournament of the championship. The structure of the Main Event will please participants with 20,000 chips, provided at the beginning of the tournament. Each level will last for 30 minutes. The winner will be able to get the lion's share of the prize pool and a ticket to the €750 Live Event of this series in Malta.

Besides, the timetable includes a dozen events. Two of them will take place on May 24 and May 27. They will provide an opportunity to win the right to participate in the Main Event for at least 2 gamblers for very loyal buy-ins of $5.50 and $12, respectively.

Despite the fact that many poker games were available in the previous online Poker-SM, the current championship is slightly different. Most tournaments present in the timetable will feature the most popular version of poker, namely No Limit Hold'em. But the timetable also provides 3 tournaments in other kinds of poker: Pot-Limit Omaha, Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low, and No-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha.

Buy-ins for all tournaments are quite reasonable to attract as many Swedish gamblers as possible. Qualifying tournaments have buy-ins of $25. In addition, the timetable of Poker-SM tournaments starts with a freeroll tournament on May 24, whose winner will receive a ticket to the live Poker-SM tournament in Malta.
