Jason Mercier is a current leader in the 2016 World Series of Poker Player of the Year (POY) run. Two WSOP titles obtained this year allowed him to collect the number of POY points that cannot be surpassed by any other poker player. 
Jason Mercier admitted that it was a great honor and pleasure for him to become the Player of the Year. He was able to defeat a lot of reputable and notable professional poker players on the way to his victory. Mercier is indeed satisfied with his results achieved in summer. Letís recall his most remarkable results. The 29-year-old player from Florida, the United States can boast the victory in the $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship. It brought him $273,335. He became the runner up in the $10,000 Seven Card Razz Championship and collected $168,936. The second WSOP golden bracelet was obtained for the victory in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship. In addition, Jason Mercier managed to collect $422,874. $39,269 was won by Mercier for an 8th-place finish in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better.
Daniel Negreanu, who is a 31-year-old Mercierís colleague of Team PokerStars Pro, believes that Jason Mercier has really deserved to become the winner of this prestigious award. According to Negreanu, Mercier showed incredible results. Probably, it is not the last title of the successful American poker player. 
This year Mercier participated in four final tables and received eleven cash prizes. As mentioned above, he can boast two victories, one second place, and one eighth place in World Series of Poker events. 
Apart from the opportunity to earn money and win various events successfully performing at the final tables, poker allowed Mercier to find his spouse. He proposed to his girlfriend Natasha Barbour. She is also the poker player. As soon as she was eliminated from the $5,000 No Limit Holdíem Event, Mercier proposed to her. To be sure, she replied "Yes".
